So it’s officially fall. Even in LA the nights are becoming cooler, which means it’s the perfect excuse to snatch up an autumn jacket. BUT – instead of taking the easy way out and heading to the mall for a new coat, I rummaged through the archives of my closet and found a vintage gem…

This varsity-inspired jacket SCREAMS Pleasantville to me, which I actually kinda love because it’s not something I would normally wear, but totally somehow aligns perfectly with my preppy style. It was actually a gift from my grandfather, good old Pop-Pop, so it has sentimental value too. Re-purposing older pieces to align with current trends is a fun fashion challenge I encourage everyone to try and do. And being Autumn, layers are in, so it’s really the perfect time to do so. Combine an older jacket with a crisp new shirt to show a casual contrast, yet still look presentable. Or a trusty pair of jeans you found in the bottom of your drawer that are magically in style again, with sleek new accessories, like dress shoes or a sexy watch.

As fate would have it, I apparently had shoes that matched perfectly – in style and color scheme – with this jacket, so obviously it was meant to be. Paired with a football and spotted on the athletic field, you’d think I was just coming back from practice – if I still played team sports, that is.
