The answer lies in the ancient chia seed, now widely available at most health food stores, like Whole Foods and Sprouts.
So How Do They Work?
I’m glad you asked. Chia seeds absorb up to twelve times their weight in liquid when soaked. They expand, the wetter they become, and the outer coating turns into a gel-like substance. OKAY – calm down and don’t be grossed out. Chia seeds have no flavor so you can add them to anything. BUT, the best way to drink them is to let a Tablespoon or two soak into a cup of water for about 15-20 minutes, then add a little something extra to flavor the water. I use apple juice, but any fruit juice will do. I’ve even added them to protein shakes after a workout.
Then, drink before a night on the town! Remember all that water the seeds absorbed? They’ll release into your system as the night goes on, so you won’t become dehydrated as easily, which is always why you feel like a load of shit the day after you drink. PROBLEM SOLVED.
They’re super high in omega 3’s, protein, and FIBER! Get this: 90% of the carbs in the seeds are pure fiber, which means you’re body isn’t going to go through the trouble of digesting it (watch out, porcelain throne!), which is an added bonus because before you go out drinking, you’ll have a flat stomach too!
