Add this to my list of MUST-SEE new films! Last Supper, the latest directorial effort from filmmaker Param Gill, stars Eddie Griffin and Josh Meyers as two escapees from a mental institution and their quest to find their fairy tale love. I’m already intrigued. I sat down with Param to discuss the film and why he set out to make it: Originally hailing from India, Param came to the states to study dentistry and was given room and board by an African American family during his school days. While he was living with his American family, he became immersed in African American culture and knew he wanted to share his cultural experiences with the world someday in the form of a great story one day – hence the cultural undertones of Last Supper. After Param completed his dental studies and attended the New York Film Academy, he became a professional…

The Hamptons International Film Festival was my first ever Film Fest, so obviously it holds a special place in my heart. I attended all the way back in 2010 when Black Swan was all the rage and I even saw the underseen Jessica Alba vehicle, An Invisible Sign.As the festival has grown though, even bigger and more hotly anticipated movies have been screening, all in preparation for AWARDS SEASON – holy crap is it here already? What’s going on with MR. GOLDEN GLOBE???My Picks for HIFF This Year:Whiplash – So I’m really not a huge fan of Miles Teller at all. I think he’s the wrong kind of cocky, BUT, the kid can act. Rabbit Hole, anyone? In this film, centering on him as an aspiring drummer, he really dives into his character and is rumored to give a drop-dead-awesome performance. I definitely would check this one out, guys. It…

Tomorrow is a monumentus day because it is my 26th birthday. If this is coming as a shock to any of you, I’m concerned why it was not printed in all of your 2014 calendars from the get-go.26 means only one thing: I’m no longer in my early to mid twenties; I am officially in my mid to late twenties, which is horrifying because I have not achieved everything I had originally planned to accomplish at this tender age. You know things are taking a turn for the wost when on the last day of being 25, I went home on my lunch break, made french fries, and cleaned my apartment. WILD, I know. But 25 was an okay year…List of Achievements- I held down a steady job & launched a talk show starring myself because I’m not narcissistic at all.- Lots of friends came to visit. (Court, Breeze, Patrick, Rick,…

The Oscars were a hit on Sunday thanks to Ellen, pizza, and the ultimate Selfie Sunday. Lindsay graciously hosted her and Mike’s 3rd Annual Stetson-Manfre Oscar Party and almost all of our Writer’s Group was in attendance.I know what you’re thinking – “Kyle, why didn’t you try and CRASH the Oscars???”[L to R] Lys (Jen Lawrence), Chris (Channing Tatum), AnnaRose (Julia Roberts), Lindsay (Ellen), Mike (Kevin Spacey), Dane (Brad Pitt), Me (Bradley Cooper), & Zach (Lupita Nyong’o’s brother) I know, I know. But I made that mistake the first year I was in LA; the entire Hollywood & Highland complex turns into a veritable fortress on Oscar Sunday, and if you aren’t Meryl Streep or have an actual Oscar to prove your worth, it’s almost impossible to break in. So, I opted for fun with friends in Venice instead. There is an ever-so-heated Oscar Ballot Competition courtesy of Lindsay and Mike where…

As of late this blog has been reading more like a Golden Globe rap sheet. And this post is no different. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the 71st annual Golden Globe Award nominees this morning in Beverly Hills. It’s common knowledge now that one of my life aspirations/bucket list items/dream job for a year is to be Mr. Golden Globe, so naturally I knew I had to attend the press conference this morning when everything was announced.Behind the ScenesI have to admit, I was kind of flying by the seat of my pants because it had only occurred to me that I SHOULD attend yesterday evening. For a potential project I have lined up, it was crucial to get some photos and footage, even if it was just from my iPhone.I rolled out of bed at 4am sharp, shot up to Beverly Hills, and parked in my usual parking spot…

Golden Globe nominations for the 71st annual awards show will take place on Thursday. Here’s why I’m excited:1) The Globes are a show where anything can happen. People drink. People sing. Superstars make fun of their peers and it’s arguably one of Hollywood’s biggest yearly parties. With that said, I could STILL be acknowledged somehow for my Mr. Golden Globe efforts. Those fickle Hollywood Foreign Press Associat-ors COULD surprise me with an honorary nomination – even though they gave Scarlett the boot.2) I’m eagerly anticipating which films and what actors will be honored. I sort of geek-out. It’s kinda like my Star Trek. Award Season very well might be my Comic Con this year.3) These two babes will be back:4) It’s going to inspire me. It’s an industry I want to be a part of and even though I know I probably won’t be mentioned, just the fact that they’re…

Important Golden Globe news broke last night: Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, was named Miss Golden Globe. This is good and bad news. Sosie is a real babe (plus she’s 21 and SINGLE, so hey hey hey!) and she’d make a perfect partner to share the stage with because she’s super cute. BUT. Because of her lineage, it also is demonstrating that the Hollywood Foreign Press is continuing with their tradition of naming Hollywood offspring to their (at least) Miss title. What does this mean for me? Well, I did receive word that someone had been chosen as Mr. Golden Globe, but then why wouldn’t they announce him along with his counterpart? Maybe they had just chosen a Miss? Could they be sitting on something else…?It could potentially be super embarrassing if they just didn’t pick a guy at all, when they have a more than willing one…

Like Danny Ocean that learn a lot a bout online gambling at kingscasino.net, or someone else who’s good at poker (?), I’m all in. Exactly two weeks ago I started my Mr. Golden Globe campaign and since then I’ve gotten nearly 350 signatures to support my cause, tons of brilliant ideas from my uber-helpful writer’s group, set up an unbelievable photoshoot, and even booked my first official interview with the Long Beach Post. Add inflated ego to the list, too. I decided that, hey, it’s too late to turn back now. I’ve started something and now I’ve got to do try my damnedest to finish it. One of the coolest things I’ve learned is that sometimes spontaneity breeds success. Did I give campaigning to be Mr. Golden Globe a lot of thought? Not really. Maybe a year ago when I watched the last broadcast I thought it’d be cool, but…

Back by popular demand, I decided to upkeep my tradition of trying to crash the Golden Globes this year. And guess what? It worked…ish. The second annual sneak attack worked moderately well. I made my way to Beverly Hills and knew exactly where to park, because I had done it all before. So I stashed my car and took Chad with me as a wingman. He wasn’t too amped on breaking into the ceremony, but I convinced him the event would change his life, so of course he obliged. Decked to the nines, I strutted past the first wave of security by telling them I was picking up my press pass at Will Call. They kindly let me through and I made my way down the sidewalk in front of The Beverly Hilton and onto the Golden Globes’ Red Carpet. I was pretty excited, I can’t lie. It was a feeling…
